A rewarding program designed for highly motivated and qualified high school graduates and other prospective students seeking a change in career that integrates undergraduate level of Pre-Medical studies with graduate level Medical Education.
Five year Doctor of Medicine program starts at undergraduate level of studies in foundational building Pre-Medical courses, taken over a duration of four semesters. On successful completion with satisfactory performance, the student automatically gains advancement into the regular Medical Program at the Basic Medical Sciences level.
Mandatory curricular studies are completed in fourteen (14) semesters completed over a duration of five (05) calendar years which corresponds to seven (07) years of academic studies.
(NOTE: Indian Citizens studying medicine at Alexander American University are required to complete a duration of Five and half Years (5.5 years) by completing additional 06 months of mandatory elective training)
The Premedical Program is designed to provide students with the strong foundation needed to handle the rigorous course of study they will experience in the MD Program. Premed consists of 3 semesters (16 weeks each) and has been designed for high school graduates or college students with less than 90 credit hours, who seek admission to a medical school and don't meet the MD Program requirements.
This three-semester program can be entered at each year depending upon academic qualifications. It offers undergraduate sciences and laboratories, as well as post-high school level of Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, English and Calculus. Those courses contribute to the overall goals of a pre-professional education and much of the final semester of the premedical program is taught by the medical school faculty members.
